Brick Gallery is excited to announce the upcoming exhibition, Looking for the Woman of My Dreams: and Other Microaggressions, a solo exhibition featuring San Antonio-based artist Libby Rowe.
Libby Rowe’s body of work explores ideas of identity and belonging through self-definitions as informed by social and domestic constructs. In Looking for the Woman of My Dreams: and Other Microaggressions, Rowe applies similar concepts through a collection of photographs, drawings and video work which chronicle her experiences in the dating realm. Through the exhibition you see the actions of men blindly and aggressively searching for something that doesn’t exist — their own version of the perfect woman. The process itself comes together to form a portrait of contemporary masculinity during the pursuit for love, or at least, their personal idea of love.
