Utilizing a multimedia extravaganza in their duo presentation at the Briscoe, authors “Cowboy” Gene Fowler and “Brother” Bill Crawford will bring to life their well-known book Border Radio.
Their book Border Radio includes: Quacks, Yodelers, Pitchmen, Psychics and Other Amazing Broadcasters of the American Airwaves.
Active from 1930 to 1986, border radio is the cultural phenomenon of high-powered American radio stations on Mexican soil. Blasting their programming northward, they exerted a peculiar, mesmerizing influence on American culture. The stations also introduced American culture to Mexicans and Mexican culture to Americans.
