Portals of a People by 2019 Artist-in-Residence Sabra Booth is presently on display at Mission San José through Dec. 30. The exhibit is located in the Soldier’s Quarters and Granary in the northwest corner of the Mission and is supported by the San Antonio Missions National Historic Park and Mission Heritage Partners. Hours are 9 a.m. 5 p.m., Sun-Sat. Collagraph prints of native plants on Japanese kōzo paper are illuminated by natural light and Led lights. All the plants depicted were vital to the indigenous cultures of the Missions area.
An animation in the Visitors Center and a worksheet further explicate the uses of fauna and flora by these cultures.
