La Villita comes alive with the Day of the Dead San Antonio 2019 Festival celebration. Decorative characters and engaging activities featuring live music and performances, workshops, children’s activities, and Mexican food, drinks and shopping are the highlights of this family-friendly event. La Villita will be transformed into a magical world of the Day of the Dead as Mojigangas and Catrinas greet visitors. Giant craneos, mirroring the calaveras, or skulls, that are synonymous with the Day of the Dead, will decorate La Villita.  Music and dance will fill the festival with 34 separate live performances scheduled to entertain and delight. Adults can get into the “spirit” of the holiday at the Spirits Bar and everyone will enjoy a fabulous array of food options. Children can engage in piñata making and smashing, sugar skull decorating, puppet shows and traditional crafts workshops in the festival’s children’s area.
