Rona Simmons, author of The Other Veterans of World War II, will share remarkable tales about a long-overlooked group of World War II veterans and sign her book
Rona Simmons kicks off her ten-city tour for her book, The Other Veterans of World War II: Stories from Behind the Front Lines. The book, her second on the topic of World War II, illuminates a little-understood and often ignored side of the War—that of noncombat soldiers. Simmons says, “The men and women portrayed in the book served in all branches of the military often miles from the front lines in Europe, North Africa, and the Pacific, yet they have remarkable and, until now, unheard stories to tell.”
According to Kent State University Press which announced the book in March, besides providing a unique perspective on the war, Simmons has given us the war in a nutshell, packed with details of the enormity of the global operation. The human-sized stories are replete with the veterans’ sacrifices, their faith and their humor. The daughter of a WWII fighter pilot, Simmons says she is proud to honor her father and all veterans and their stories through her work, particularly this year as the country observes the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II.
