Te Amo Fiesta

Te Amo Fiesta

Presented by Witte Museum at Witte Museum

A beloved tradition dating back 130 years to the first Battle of Flowers Parade in 1891, Fiesta has been a true staple of the City of San Antonio. What is it about this annual celebration people love so much? Is it a love for chicken-on-a-stick, oysters, tacos, turkey legs and other delicious foods that keep people coming back? Or is it the music, dancing and crowds that fill the streets and plazas of old San Anton? Perhaps it is the historic parade traditions that draw hundreds of thousands of people. Or maybe it could be the glitz and glamour of Fiesta royalty parading downtown as revelers shout, “show me your shoes!”

No matter the cause, Fiesta has and always will be an important part of our community. The Witte Museum invites all to come explore what makes Fiesta so treasured in this special exhibition, Te Amo Fiesta. Discover personal stories from the official and “unofficial” Fiesta royalty that showcase what Fiesta truly means to them. Go beyond the crown to learn the process of how anyone, including you, can become a part of Fiesta royalty. Measure the impact of Fiesta, the annual “party with a purpose” that is organized and staffed by thousands of volunteers for more than 100 non-profit organizations. The money raised by these organizations supports numerous educational and service-based programs throughout San Antonio. Share your thoughts about what makes Fiesta so special.
