It is with great honor that The Urban-15 Group announces that its’ first ever winner of this years’ Gregg Barrios “Precious Words” Prize is none other than the world-renowned poet, writer, and Tejana; Amalia Ortiz. Amalia is a woman of many achievements. She is a published author, playwright, and activist whose poetry book, “Rant. Chant. Chisme.” was handpicked by NBC News’ “10 Great Latino Books in 2015.” Congratulations are in order for Amalia!

Amalia will be honored at a special awards ceremony which will take place online on May 15th and 16th beginning at 7pm on both evenings. All are invited to witness this well-deserved accomplishment.
