“From the rhapsodic, soaring melodies in Kevin Salfen’s Pop Song: Hula Hoop Goes Round and Round, to the dark corners and colors in Samuel Gaskin’s Domenican Nights, to the pointillistic journey of life represented in Ken Metz’s Experiments for Flute and Piano, it has been a true pleasure to work on this program. It was a joy to explore textural, dynamic, and tonal possibilities in Yvonne Freckmann’s atmospheric Dragonflies and Misook Kim’s shocking and heart-warming arrangement of Amazing Grace. Dimitar Ninov’s Capriccio for Flute and Piano speaks an expressive language combined with neoclassical counterpoint. Brian Bondari’s Kaykhosrow’s Ascension imaginative and daunting harmonies and melodies push the limits of what is possible with the flute and piano. This program offers an introspective, emotional journey at a time when the world calls for such an act. We are looking forward to bringing this program to live audiences in the 2021-2022 calendar year!”
