Join the City of San Antonio World Heritage Office in celebrating corn as a traditional ingredient in many local foods and San Antonio as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy! Food tastings and demonstrations, make-and-take art projects, local pop-up vendors, music, and film screenings are just a few of the many activities taking place.
This event, held at historic Mission Marquee Plaza, is part of a multi-city series on corn, “Pueblos de Maiz,” hosted by four Creative Cities: San Antonio, Texas; Tucson, Arizona; Mérida, Mexico; and Puebla, Mexico. A second event in San Antonio will take place in May 2022.
From 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Mission Marquee Plaza presents its annual Holiday Farmers & Artisans Market, and San Antonio UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy presents its annual Tamal Institute – both with many activities and demonstrations focused on corn.
Then, enjoy a FREE outdoor movie and activities from 6-10 p.m. with a screening of the 2001 family film, “Tortilla Soup,” food vendors, a special performance by Woodlawn Theatre, and more.
