Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Performs "Beethoven Connections"

In a return to live concerts for its 2021-22 season, the San Antonio Chamber Music Society is pleased to present the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in a “Beethoven Connections” themed concert.  In addition to music composed by the master himself, the concert will feature compositions by Johann Nepomuk Hummel, Franz Schubert, and Felix Mendelssohn, who were not only contemporaries, associates, and admirers of Beethoven, but also were influenced by his music.  The program includes Beethoven’s Trio in C minor for Violin, Viola, and Cello, Op. 9, No. 3; Hummel’s Quintet in E-flat for Piano, Violin, Cello, and Bass, Op. 87; Schubert’s Rondo in A major for Piano (Four Hands), D. 951; and Mendelssohn’s Sextet in D major for Piano, Violin, Two Violas, Cello, and Bass, Op. 110.  The artists performing in this concert are Wu Han (piano), Richard Lin (violin) Wu Qian (piano), Arnaud Sussmann (violin & viola), Nicholas Canellakis (cello), Matthew Lipman (viola), and Blake Hinson (double bass).  The concert will take place at Temple Beth-El, 211 Belknap Place, San Antonio, starting at 3:15 PM.  Arrive early, as there is open seating for the concert.  Free parking is available in the Temple’s parking lot.  Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at the door or in advance on the SACMS web site (www.sacms.org).  In accordance with Temple Beth-El’s health protocol, SACMS requires all attendees (other than children) to be vaccinated and should wear a mask during the performance.
