Through the month of April the websites of Arts Alive San Antonio, Bihl Haus Arts, Gemini Ink, and San Antonio Public Library will show the winners of the Ekphrastic Poetry Contest (adult and youth) with the pieces from The Briscoe, the McNay, SAMA, The Witte, and Ruby City, which inspired them. Additionally will show the pieces from those collections selected and written about by SA Poets Laureate, and the NPMS Coordinator.
Ekphrasis is the response in literary form to a work of visual art, and more broadly, any response in one art form to works in another art form.
The Ekphrastic Contest, in its second year as part of NPMSA was judged by Jim LaVilla-Havelin, Linda Simone, and Eddie Vega, for the the adult work, and by the young poets of Young Women's Leadership Academy for the youth work.
