Artpace San Antonio is excited to announce our next Hudson Showroom exhibition, Carbonate of Copper, curated by Artpace Curatorial Resident alumna, Jennifer Teets.
The exhibition will open with a public reception on Thursday, May 19, 2022, from 6–9pm. Opening night will include a public talk, beginning at 7pm, with Jennifer Teets, poet and writer Roberto Tejada, and journalist Cecilia Ballí. It will focus on material culture and borderland ecologies in light of the poem’s inclusion in the exhibition. The talk will occur in person, at Artpace, and will be streamed on the Artpace Facebook page.
Carbonate of Copper features international and Texas-based visual artists and scholars who work in varied media to examine questions of circuitry, flow, foundation, and cultural inheritance, particularly in relation to infrastructure, the environment, and geological time. The exhibition sits in company with the award-winning poem and forthcoming volume Carbonate of Copper by Houston-based writer Roberto Tejada. Featured artists include Gwenneth Boelens, Anna Mayer, Kate Newby, George Smith, Josie Ann Teets, and Roberto Tejada.
