The San Antonio Chamber Music Society kicks off its 80th season of presenting world class chamber music with a performance on October 16, 2022, by the renowned Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble.  The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields is one of the world’s finest chamber orchestras, renowned for fresh, brilliant interpretations. Through unrivaled live performances and a vast recording output, the Academy quickly gained an enviable international reputation for its distinctive, polished and refined sound. The Academy of St Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble was created in 1967 to perform the larger chamber works with players who customarily worked together.  The October 16th concert will highlight several of these larger ensemble works, spanning the 17th to the early 20th centuries.  On the program for the SACMS concert are Henry Purcell’s Chacony for Strings in G minor; the String Sextet in B-flat major, Opus 18, of Johannes Brahms; and the Octet in C, Opus 7 by George Enescu.  More information about this concert may be found on the SACMS website, https://www.sacms.org/.
