This pay-what-you-can event presents intersectional feminist performances curated by Amalia Ortiz and features an excerpt from Ortiz’s new work “Punkera Diatribes” created with her City of San Antonio Individual Artist Grant.
“¿Hociconas, y Que?: Speak up for a Cause” is an intersectional feminist evening of performance curated by Amalia Ortiz featuring:
•Poetry by Victoria Fennell, Andi-Garcia-Linn, Jen Yáñez-Alaniz, and Aida Felicitas Rodriguez Barrera
•Teatro by Lilith and Sarah Tijerina
•All vinyl sets by DJ Cami, DJ Karina, and DJ Apathetic
•Musical performances by Jules Vaquera, Amalia Ortiz y Las Hijas de la Madre, and hardcore punks, Sacred Games closes out the night
•Plus, pop-up vendors including El Puño y La Mano and others…
Amalia Ortiz y Las Hijas de la Madre will perform excerpts from the new project “Punkera Diatribes.” New works focus on the intersection of social change and feminist POC punk. This performance is in fulfillment of Amalia’s individual artist grant awarded by the City of San Antonio’s Department of Arts and Culture. Audiences can expect spoken word and punk music inspired by Amalia’s research and reflections on women in punk.
