D.Sire Blooms

D.Sire Blooms features mixed media paintings exploring the Union of two basic archetypal shapes, Heart and Star, and a third, the Blooms They Create and Form.

Last year, my sketchbooks start featuring Blooms of all sorts. I paint a couple too.  By the beginning of this year, Blooms take over my sketchbooks and a Heart connection emerges. I have a “Full-Circle” experience, an image of a seed or pod planted all those years ago in my Airport studio by the Flowers deep in my Heart, lying dormant all these years awaiting the conditions for a rebirth.  I love the “Spring” feeling creating this group of paintings gives me and hope others feel and experience the Joy of Spring in the paintings and generates a connection to one’s core.

In early days, I just moved into my first studio, in a hangar at the Santa Monica Airport.  A fresh start, “what do I do now?”  I find myself amidst an intense inner search for……a core and meditate and meditate.  And, meditating in the stark noisy hangar I have a very simple “matter of fact” realization--The Flower.  The Flower holds the knowledge I seek as a young Artist about, well everything….structure, geometry, color, beauty, balance, harmony. Wow, I think the Flower amounts to Nature’s Art as I see it.  So, over a two-year period I paint Flowers and Flowers and more Flowers.  I walk all over the city looking for Flowers as models to paint from.  I approach the paintings as portraits, the Flower my subject I interact with one on one intimately.  The Morning Glory that annually takes over the entire front of the bungalow I lived in at Venice Beach.  The Sunflowers at the local flower shops bring a smile to my face and remind me of Van Gogh’s that move me powerfully.  The tiny orange Honeysuckles I paint as giants.

My own imagery, visual vocabulary, and style forms.  I move on from painting flowers from life.   Yet, throughout, my images connect back to the Flower in a basic, archetypal way.  Something sprouting, growing, radiating from a point of origin.  A Flower’s very much a Star at Heart.

About David Sirebrenik

Born in Santiago, Chile, David Sirebrenik grew up in Los Angeles spending many Summer & Winter breaks in either Santiago or Barcelona, Spain. Early exposure to Art & Architecture in Barcelona sparked his enduring urge to create.

David is known for sensual organic abstractions & icons often incorporating Collage, Mylar, and Holographic Films in a curious fashion harkening to another time--past & future. Through the mid-1990’s he was Resident Artist at the Legendary Hollywood Afterhours Nightclub—Does Your Momma Know-- where he provided the backdrop for the scene of global House-Music DJ’s. The Underground Club’s dark, womb-like environment served a perfect space to develop his imagery. At the same time, he started ARTCARE and grew a clientele of Art Collectors & Dealers offering Art related services including Installation & Sculpture Conservation.

David balances his time in San Antonio since 2016 between Art-Making and as a Realtor helping people sell, buy, and rent their homes.

About James Thegerstrom

Focused on process and function, James is interested in a union of science and mythology.  Objects and depictions such as vessels, maps, navigation, and spatial orientation are personal explorations and musings on biology, chemistry, light, gravity, and time.  Somewhere between monk and mad scientist, James aspires to be enough of a polymath and a reasonably humble subject to an idea of God to make work that helps him chart a personal quest for meaning.  James is based in Los Angeles.
