In Greek Mythology, Daedalus was a great inventor, which sometimes got him into hot water, relive this story told through glass art and see its relevance to modern-day life.
Artist Glen Andrews II creates art with molten glass to stand the test of time; his inspiration also stems from this desire for timelessness. In the Daedalus Series, Glen delves into the life of a brilliant mythological inventor whose achievements and folly yield hope, fury, hubris, and acquiescence. This collection offers the viewer an opportunity for reflection through the grace and beauty of glass to see the ancient story in a new light.
On February 8th at 6:30pm, cellist Joshua Younke will perform original compositions throughout the evening to accompany each element of the series. These original works were developed in conjunction with the creation of the glass art and with the myth itself. Mr. Andrews and Mr. Younke debuted their first collaborative performance in November 2022 but their interdisciplinary work dates back to years prior.
This project was made possible with the support of the City of San Antonio's Department of Arts & Culture.
