5th Annual San Antonio Book Festival

at Central Library

The San Antonio Book Festival is a FREE, annual, daylong event that unites readers and writers in a celebration of ideas, books, libraries, and literary culture. Featuring more than 80 authors, the Festival offers programming for all ages.

The Festival takes place downtown at the Central Library, the neighboring Southwest School of Art and at the Charline McCombs Empire Theatre. Author presentations are held indoors while outdoors the Festival grounds are active with book sales, signings, children’s story time, learning projects, tech areas, family activities and a zone for teens, “Geektown.”

Food trucks offer a variety of eats and the Central Market cooking tent features recipe demonstrations by cookbook authors. The large Festival Marketplace offers a lively literary and crafts marketplace.

Past authors have included Sandra Cisneros, Jack Gantos, Pam Muñoz Ryan, Lawrence Wright, Juan Felipe Herrera, Rebecca Traister, Luis Alberto Urrea, Nathan Hale, Jan Jarboe Russell, and Isabel Quintero. Entering its 5th year, the San Antonio Book Festival is the signature program of the San Antonio Public Library Foundation.
