Elton John & Tim Rice's "Aida"

Elton John & Tim Rice's "Aida"

Presented by North East School of the Arts at Lee High School Theatre

The 20th Anniversary Celebration of North East School of the Arts continues with its production of ELTON JOHN & TIM RICE’S AIDA, the striking tale of two star-crossed lovers, based on Giuseppe Verdi’s eponymous opera. CURTIS HOLBROOK, NESA ’99 alum and New York based performer returns to guest choreograph AIDA.

Set on the edge of the Nile River, Aida tells the story of an enslaved Nubian princess who falls in love with her Egyptian captor, Radames. As the forbidden love unfolds, Aida must decide between her desire for the Egyptian captain and her duty to lead the people of Nubia.

CURTIS HOLBROOK has appeared in numerous Broadway shows, such as The Addams Family, Footloose, and West Side Story. He has since gone on to leading roles, most recently opposite Idina Menzel in If/Then on Broadway and he also appeared in the pre-Broadway engagement of The Sponge-Bob Musical. His film and television credits include Hairspray, Across the Universe, Smash, and many more.

As a follow-up to Disney’s mega-hit THE LION KING soundtrack, Elton John and Tim Rice joined forces once again to compose the Tony & Grammy award winning AIDA score. The duo’s song, “Written in the Stars” reached No. 2 on Billboard’s US Adult Contemporary chart and No. 1 on the Canadian contemporary chart.
