The Blue Hour (A clock stopped) by Jessica Halonen

The Blue Hour (A clock stopped) by Jessica Halonen

Presented by Contemporary at Blue Star at Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum

The Blue Hour (A clock stopped) investigates the historical intersection of art and science through the exploration of the pigment Prussian Blue. The works in this exhibition, ranging from oil on linen to sculpture, tap into the cultural and social associations the color blue evokes for many: nostalgia and loss. Moments of transition reverberate throughout the exhibition and are echoed in the title of the exhibition. The Blue Hour (A clock stopped) refers not only to the pigment but also to an atmospheric phenomenon: the elusive period between day and night when a fleeting vibrant blue illuminates the sky.

Opening Reception is Thursday, February 2, 2017, from 6-9 PM at Blue Star Contemporary, at 116 Blue Star, and is free and open to the public. Exhibit runs in the Middle Gallery February 2 – May 7, 2017.
