Independence Day Traditions- Old & New

Independence Day Traditions- Old & New

at Alamo Garden

On July 4, 2017, the HTxCB will conclude its concert season with two concerts of patriotic music, the first concert beginning at 11:00 on the grounds of the Alamo. Since 2009, the band has celebrated American Independence Day with a concert at the Shrine of Texas Independence, with audience members listening from lawn chairs or blankets spread on the ground. Vocal soloists Keith and Shannon Earle, and James and Alyssa Rogers will be highlighted along with a medley of the melodies representing all branches of the US Armed Forces. Kate Kostellic, trumpet soloist, will perform American Eagle Waltz by Jasques Offenbach.

A repeat of the morning concert, with a few special pieces added for your enjoyment, will be performed in District 10, inside, at Northern Hills United Methodist Church at 3PM.  Included will be “American Pie” from Menu, by Spanish composer, Carlos Pellicer, who has been commissioned to write a new composition for The Heart of Texas Concert Band to Celebrate San Antonio, our 300th Birthday!
