Current Issues in San Antonio Archaeology by Kay Hindes

September is Texas Archaeology Month. KWA has invited Kay Hindes, San Antonio’s City Archaeologist, to present Current Issues in Archaeology in San Antonio. 

 

Kay has 28 years of experience working with universities, cultural resources management firms, and as an Independent Research Consultant. She received a degree in anthropology from the University of Texas at San Antonio and specializes in historical/archival research and Spanish Colonial archaeology. Kay has received numerous awards for her many contributions to the field, including the 2012 Texas Preservation Hero Award from the San Antonio Conservation Society.

 

Kay has also provided management and coordination for cultural resources for such projects as the Mission Trail, Museum Reach and the Linear Creekways projects for the city. She has a passion for preservation of prehistoric sites and works closely with developers and real estate firms.
