9th Annual Mole Throwdown

9th Annual Mole Throwdown

Presented by Centro Cultural Aztlan at Centro Cultural Aztlan

Get your taste buds ready for one of the most deliciously unique fundraising events you will ever attended. The 9th Annual Mole Throwdown, hosted by Centro Cultural Aztlan, is a culinary experience blended with art to promote Chicano/Latino Art and Culture in an innovative way that benefits Centro Cultural Aztlan’s year-long programming.

Mole is traditionally prepared for special events, bringing together friends and families. Mole is a delightfully rich tasting dark sauce infused with the flavors of chili peppers, chocolate, and about 25 or more spicy ingredients, and then lovingly poured over turkey or chicken.

Indulgent mole dishes will be prepared and generously donated by local restaurants and local chefs for your taste buds to enjoy. Cerveza (beer) will be iced down and served to complement the meal.  A tequila tasting bar will be provided by Salud Tequila Bar, and Tito’s Handmade vodka will be serving a cocktail to refresh your palette.  Patrons will be asked to vote for their favorite recipe, and a new winner will be announced!  Participating chefs include: Ana Sandoval & Mario Bravo, Veronica Castillo Salas, Colibri Llevando Sabor, Jenny’s Catering, Chef Jerry Olivarri, Los Laureles Café, Berta Romo-Rios, Will Nichols, Fred Anthony Garza (former owner of Viva Vegeria), Letty’s Catering, La Capital Del Sabor, El Milagrito Café, and Papa Lupe’s Latin Cuisine.

In addition to the sampling of mole, there will be a Silent Art Auction featuring the works of artists who have supported Centro Cultural Aztlan for over three decades. These artists’ contribution is their way to show their gratitude to an organization, which focuses on promoting Chicano/Latino Art and Culture.  Musical Entertainment and performances scheduled through the evening include: Los Nahuatlatos, Ghost Tracks, Liza Ybarra and Grupo Folklorico de Bendiciones.  Poet Nephtali De Leon will be reading from his Mole inspired poems.

The 9th Annual Mole Throwdown promises to be an exciting fundraising event sure to satisfy its patrons with good food and drink while promoting and contributing to an organization dedicated to supporting Chicano, Latino, and Indigenous art.
General Admission tickets for the event are only $40.00 per person. Other donation levels are available.
