Jacob Lawrence told stories of famous African Americans and everyday people through series of images similar to the storyboards used to plan the sequence of a film. Lawrence repeated shapes, colors, and motifs, such as hands, chains, and nails, to add drama and emotion to the story. Create a series of paintings in the style of Lawrence and tell your own story.
