Christopher Merrill has published six collections of poetry and is the author of SELF-PORTRAIT WITH DOGWOOD. He directs the International Writing Program at The University of Iowa and serves on the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO. He has conducted cultural diplomacy missions in over thirty countries for the U.S. State Department, and in April 2012 President Obama appointed Merrill to the National Council on the Humanities. He will be at Trinity University as part of the Words Matter series presented by Trinity University Press and Gemini Ink for a talk on cultural relations and being an artist in the era of Trump. Free and open to the public.
