The signature event at the UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures brings the mission to life. The Texas Folklife Festival welcomes Texans from around the state to celebrate and share their unique cultural heritage through music, dance, food, crafts and more.
The festival features more than 250 organizations and individuals representing some 40 cultures that call Texas home. A menu of authentic cuisines includes more than 100 dishes to enjoy. Some 60 skilled artisans and craftsmen come to the festival to preserve and pass on pioneer trades such as leatherwork, blacksmithing, jelly making, basket weaving, chuck wagon cooking and other skills.
Folklife is an opportunity to experience Texas culture firsthand, immersed in the culture and tradition that built the Lone Star State and keeps the Heart of Texas beating strong.
