San Antonio Mastersingers 2018-19 Season Auditions

San Antonio Mastersingers 2018-19 Season Auditions

Presented by San Antonio Mastersingers at UTSA

The San Antonio Symphony Mastersingers, under the direction of John Silantien, holds auditions for the 2018-19 concert season.  Openings are available in all voice parts. Auditions consist of vocalizations, ear testing, sight-reading, and a prepared solo (if the singer has one). An accompanist will be provided.

The Mastersingers’ 74th concert season, 2018–19, will begin with a performance of Brahms’s Requiem in the 1871 London performance edition.  The concert will be part of The Chapel of the Incarnate Word Concert Series.  A special series of performances in the community of the perennial favorite Messiah follows in December as well as the traditional Holiday Pops with the San Antonio Symphony. In the spring, the Mastersingers join the Symphony again with a program of British Music and also present their annual Musical Shower of Roses at the stunning Basilica of the Little Flower.  The season concludes with the bombastic score to the classic movie Alexander Nevsky by Sergei Prokofiev.

ALSO: The Mastersingers is an all-volunteer chorus numbering approximately 125 singers who perform each year on the subscription series of the San Antonio Symphony and independently.  The chorus has performed in such locations as New York City’s Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, London’s Royal Festival Hall, and major venues in Italy, Portugal, and Spain.  In June 2018, the Mastersingers embarked on a concert tour to France, where some of their featured performances included the American Cemetery in Normandy, as well as the Notre Dame Cathedral and Church of La Madeleine in Paris.
