Napako - Our Journey

Napako - Our Journey

Presented by SAY Sí at Confluence Park

An original stage production that portrays one of the creation stories of the ancient people of San Antonio, Texas. This original play uses movement-driven staging and storytelling to dive into the history, geography, and significance of the Blue Hole—a once abundantly flowing water source of the San Antonio River.

“Napako” will take audiences on a journey of discovery through the eyes of present day San Antonio youth. What has been described as “the birthright of the city,” The Blue Hole is now empty and removed from the minds of San Antonio residents as the headwaters of the San Antonio River. “Napako” follows one young person’s discovery of this forgotten treasure in the city while bringing to life a local indigenous creation story depicted in the White Shaman Panel, a 4,000+ year old ancient rock art (pictograph) located in Seminole Canyon State Park & Historic Site.
