Musical Bridges Around the World Presents "Feerie"

Presented by Musical Bridges Around the World at San Fernando Cathedral

Sung Chang of South Korea, who won the silver medal at the 2016 San Antonio International Piano Competition, performs alongside Russian Renaissance, winners of the $100,000 grand prize at the 2017 M-Prize Competition, the largest prize in the world for chamber music, as Musical Bridges Around the World begins the 21st season of the Russell Hill Rogers Musical Evenings at San Fernando Cathedral.

In the spirit of the 2020 Gurwitz International Piano Competition, the 2018-19 season celebrates the art of piano. Therefore, each concert includes a winner of the most prestigious international piano competitions around the globe. A dessert reception with the artists will be held after the concert.

“Musical Bridges will dedicate the opening concert of the 21st season of Musical Evenings at San Fernando Cathedral to the late Edith McAllister, who was a well-known philanthropist and arts and culture patron, who often attended our concerts and supported our mission,” said Anya Grokhovski, artistic director and CEO.

Sung Chang’s prizes include the gold medal at the 7th Bösendorfer USASU International Piano Competition, the Korea International Music Foundation Competition in the United States, the Valsesia Musica International Competition, International Piano Competition “Citta Di Caraglio” in Italy, and the International 13.

Russian Renaissance has firmly established itself as one of the most exhilarating ensembles of today. Through stunning performances ranging from tango to folk and jazz, this group redefines the possibilities of their traditional Russian folk instruments – balalaika, domra/domra alto, button accordion, and balalaika contrabasso – while capturing audiences worldwide.
