Muros/Walls Exhibit by Fernando Andrade

Muros/Walls Exhibit by Fernando Andrade

at San Antonio Central Public Library

The San Antonio Public Library, in partnership with the City of San Antonio Department of Arts & Culture and the National Association of Latino Arts & Cultures (NALAC) hosts a new exhibit by San Antonio artist Fernando Andrade.

The exhibit is the result of a NALAC 2018 Fund for the Arts (NFA) grant award. “Muros/Walls” originally began with the rhetoric of border walls as the main subject matter, but quickly expanded to a global context rather than a firm focus on the U.S. and Mexico border. This body of work, according to Andrade, remains a poignant call for empathetic reaction to human struggle. Andrade was born and raised until the age of seven in the Mexican town of Acuña. This early childhood experience of living on the cusp of two distinct cultures has formulated his artistic narrative.

Opening Reception: Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019 from 6-9 p.m. at the San Antonio Central Library. The event is free and open to the public. The exhibit runs through Friday, March 22, 2019.
