Mural

1235 Enrique M. Barrera Pkwy, San Antonio, TX, 78227

San Antonio artist Jennifer Khoshbin worked with the Center for Refugee Services to create Interwoven, a mural depicting five refugee and immigrant women who are an important part of our San Antonio community. These women, often working as seamstresses, are from all across the world and now reside in San Antonio. They have come from Afghanistan, Turkey, Honduras, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Haiti.

The colorful portraits highlight the culture of each woman through her clothing style and patterns, while the new tree growth mirrors her new life in San Antonio. In addition to the mural, Khoshbin collaborated with a seamstresses to create a series of nylon flags featuring an expression of their culture through textile art. The intent of the project is to celebrate the different cultures that create the fabric of our city.
