Crossroads of Enlightenment

"Crossroads of Enlightenment" by San Antonio artist Angel Rodríguez–Díaz is a two-piece sculpture installation located at the intersection of Blanco and Basse Road that serves as a neighborhood Gateway. The sculptures are a pair of powder coated red and green steel towers that stand atop stone pillars on the east and west corners of the intersection reaching 25 feet-tall. The artwork’s form resembles the smokestacks located at the nearby Quarry Market, once the Alamo Cement Company. The two-piece sculptural installation is carved with intricate waterjet cut imagery resembling papel picado that references the history of the surroundingneighborhoods.
