Kite Table

“Kite Table” by San Antonio artist Stuart Allen encourages individuals to engage in outdoor activity and public spaces through the use of imagination. The piece takes inspiration from folded paper, but is fabricated from steel. The table top references a diamond kite, while the light fixture next to the table references a kite in flight. Along the table are etched diagrams for making kites from Japan, Korea, and Guatemala, countries present the HemisFair’68 World’s Fair. “Kite Table” is part of the series “Play” located in Yanaguana Garden at Hemisfair Park.
