Music in the City

“Music in the City” by San Antonio artist Raul Rene Gonzalez is a series of paintings which highlights San Antonio’s historical and diversified musical landscape, specifically recognizing Tejano and Conjunto, Jazz, and Heavy Metal culture. Each genre of music has played an important role in San Antonio’s history, culture, and identity throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. Within each panel are the places and some of the people who have made contributions to each genre of music at the local, state, national, and global levels.
