Puente de Encuentros (Bridge of Encounters)

Puente de Encuentras provides shade for pedestrians, encouraging them to stay and connect with the river below.

"Puente de Encuentras" (Bridge of Encounters) by San Antonio artist Rolando Briseño celebrates the river and connects to passerby’s at street level. The artwork transforms an ordinary sidewalk into a scenic overlook and creates an inviting and visually dynamic shaded area. The piece refers to waving hands, waving water, and the human desire to reach out and connect with others. Briseño’s shade sculpture responds to the spirit of friendliness found throughout San Antonio and along the river. The artwork takes inspiration from our daily encounters with the many people and places here in downtown San Antonio.
