Time Capsules Reflections of Our Changing Community

“Time Capsules Reflections of Our Changing Community” is a collaboration between San Antonio based multidisciplinary studio, workshop, and galley French & Michigan; arts non-profit Spare Parts; and the North East Independent School District. This project is a creative response the new concrete wall built at the CPS Energy Dresden Substation at Blanco Road. The project engages the neighborhood and educators to improve pedestrian experience through beautification. Over 150 students created artworks inspired by creative reuse, making art with discarded material along the theme of change.’ Through a juried process, 16 artworks were selected for final production and installation. These custom metal frames were designed and built by French & Michigan to display the artwork from nearby schools. Spare Parts lead artist Kim Bishop worked with PASA to engage art students from Nimitz Middle School, LEE High School. and the International School of the Americas.
