G.I.G.

Nothing the benefits of having music in your life, St. Anthony Catholic High School (SACHS) and senior Eagle Scout candidate Erin Chase conceived a plan to collect musical instruments benefiting inner city students. Donations of new, used and even broken instruments will be accepted through Oct. 7 at SACHS, St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church-a faith formation office, Spacetone Music, Guitar Tex, G.I.G., Tycoon Flats and Amy’s Ice Cream in the Quarry. The donated instruments will be cleaned, repaired and donated to Inner City Development (ICD). ICD is a nonprofit, community-based organization that responds to emergency, educational and recreational needs of the neighborhood on the near Westside of San Antonio. Chase will also hold a benefit concert Sunday, Oct. 3 from 1 to 11 p.m. at G.I.G., located at 2803 North St. Mary’s Street. The concert will showcase local bands including The Otis Brothers, Bett Butler and Nate Davenport. Concert proceeds will be used to repair broken instruments and to purchase small instruments including shakers or instrument accessories such as guitar picks or tuners or ICD. Chase is a member of St. Peter’s Prince of the Apostles Boy Scout Troop 31. For donation information call (210) 248-7792.
