The Institute of Texan Cultures is a gateway to understanding the rich tapestry of cultures that have shaped Texas. It honors and celebrates the many ways that communities from around the world influenced the Lone Star State through music, dance, food, storytelling, traditions, religion, artisan skills, and ways of life. The museum explores Texas’ heritage, sharing knowledge through engaging exhibits, programs, and events that entertain, educate, and inspire; Outreach programs connecting with schools and community groups; and Educational resources supporting lifelong learning.
As part of The University of Texas at San Antonio, the institute plays a key role in the university’s community engagement efforts. It is committed to providing accessible, high-quality resources that deepen the public’s understanding of the peoples who built today’s Texas. Through immersive experiences and lively discussions, the museum fosters a vibrant appreciation for the arts and humanities.
