Taller Studio

The Conjunto Heritage Taller is dedicated to the preservation, instruction and perpetuation of the traditional conjunto music played by accordion and bajo sexto. It is the goal of the Taller to share the expertise of each member with all other interested members. In essence, we are all teachers and we are all students. Our motto is “musica tradicional for youth of all ages”. The Taller will provide instruction on the accordion and bajo sexto and will seek venues wherein students can perform what they have learned. It will be community based and will participate in community activities, e.g., providing music when called upon and available to do so. The Taller wants to ensure that this South Texas music, which resulted from the melding of the European accordion and the Mexicano bajo sexto, is afforded folk music status and disseminated as such
