University of Texas at San Antonio - Art Gallery (Main Campus)

The UTSA Art Gallery is located on the University’s Main campus, presenting a variety of programs of contemporary art as well as projects with historic and cultural themes, both galleries support practicing artists, with an emphasis on emerging artists, and provide significant curatorial and administrative experience for students and recent graduates in art history and studio arts. The full range of traditional and new media is represented as programming reflects multiple critical trajectories. Exhibitions incorporate the cultural diversity of contemporary experience in South Texas, demonstrating the creative and critical achievement of local communities and welcoming individuals to the possibilities of higher education. Increasingly, exhibitions and programs focus on international artists and themes. The UTSA Art Gallery presents a mix of professionally curated, juried, and student and faculty exhibitions with an emphasis on larger and more complex projects. Catalogues provide avenues for critical writing and documentation of activities, and exhibitions are free and open to the public, with announcements distributed through direct mail and through a variety of news, cultural, and digital outlets.
