Artist Statement of Work

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

My work, under the moniker Latte Stone Studio Artwork, is a reflection of my multifaceted background and experiences, a conversation between my Chamorro heritage, the vibrant Hispanic culture of San Antonio, and the global perspectives I've gained through travel. It's a constant exploration of how "form follows function," a principle instilled in me through my architectural training, applied not just to buildings, but to art itself. I strive to create pieces that are not only visually appealing but also carry a deeper meaning, sparking dialogue and connection. My style varies, moving between the controlled precision of architectural design and the more fluid expression of painting and digital art. I enjoy the tactile experience of oil and acrylic on canvas, layering colors and textures to evoke emotions and capture the essence of a place or a moment. Whether it's a serene landscape like "Sunset Over Mount Calvary" or a more personal portrait like "Adore 1," I aim to infuse each piece with a sense of intention and purpose. My digital work, like "Voodoo Ranger 2023 Countdown City 210," allows me to explore contemporary themes and engage with the community in a dynamic way, celebrating events like Fiesta and connecting with the energy of San Antonio. My approach is rooted in observation and reflection. I'm inspired by the world around me – the colors of a sunset, the energy of a celebration, the stories of my culture. I often find myself drawn to themes of identity, community, and the interplay between different cultures. My Chamorro heritage is a source of pride and inspiration, and I strive to weave its stories and symbols into my work, sharing a part of myself with the viewer. Similarly, my experience living in San Antonio has profoundly shaped my artistic vision, and I often celebrate the city's unique character and vibrant cultural tapestry in my art. Ultimately, my philosophy is about connection. I believe that art has the power to connect people, to bridge cultural divides, and to inspire meaningful conversations. I'm passionate about sharing my work with the community and engaging with other artists, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where creativity can flourish. Whether I'm painting a landscape, creating a digital illustration, or playing music, I'm always striving to express myself authentically and to connect with others on a deeper level. I believe that art is a gift, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to share it with the world.
