I’m Fernando Ribas Berain, a visual artist originally from Austin, Texas, but who after 15 years now calls San Antonio home. I’m both a sculptor and a mixed media artist.
I’ve been making art since I was a child—albeit reluctantly at first. I create works of art that are the result of a personal interplay of epiphany, texture, color. My intent is to monumentalize those eternal insights that we all have. I create sculptures and mixed media pieces that bend perception visually and metaphorically. Utilizing the practices of construction and faux bois fabrication, each piece is constructed using rudimentary building and craft materials in an attempt to codify the elusive flashes of truth, beauty, and wisdom worth remembering.
