MORE ABOUT THIS ARTIST

Artist Statement of Work

Tell us about your work (style, approach, philosophy, subject and/or theme):

My compositions blend the many styles I have studied and performed including Jazz, African, Brazilian, Afro-Cuban, Indian and polyrhythmic music. The musicians I record and perform with are well versed in these diverse styles and can interpret my compositions with fluidity. I incorporate the rhythmic concepts from these cultures to create an exciting style that captures the essence of the music. Improvisation is a very important part of my compositions. Although there is structure in my compositions the improvisations have a sense of freedom that the soloists can explore.
