As a musician and producer, I value the individualistic mindset of DIY. I founded Lowlife Records with the intention of backing my own career and to make sure I maintain creative control of the music I make. While I grew up in a suburb of Los Angeles, San Antonio is where I call home. I feel gravitated toward the history, culture, and city, and I want to help make San Antonio into an artistic capital of Texas. I am a Navy vet, currently splitting my time between Music Business coursework at San Antonio College, writing music, and working part time as a VA work study student. I founded Lowlife Records with the intention of establishing a physical space where all creative types can learn and grow from each other’s styles and content. Art is not created in a vacuum, and within this city alone, there are plenty of voices that when shared, can make a large impact. My goal is to develop a studio/ lounge where artists and musicians can meet to discuss and develop ideas and content.
Artist Type: Literary Arts: Author/Writer; Media Arts: New Media/Technology, Producer; Multi-Disciplinary: Multiple Art Forms, Performer and Writer; Performing Arts: Musician, Vocalist/Singer
Style: A blend of Mexican cumbias and good ol' fashioned rock n' roll (aka disco salsa) Approach: When composing a song, I spend an excessive amount of time replaying the track to ensure that the feel of the music is correct. Once that's done. I'll start writing out the lyrics. I find it easier to treat the song like writing a story, and it helps me focus on capturing the purpose of the track. Philosophy: When it comes to developing new music and ideas, it's important to first acknowledge that anything new draws inspiration from the work that came before it. The style of Rock and Roll as we know it today would have never came to be without the roots of soul, jazz, blues, and gospel music laying its foundation. I draw inspiration from those musicians, writers, authors, and comedians that developed their own individual styles and voice. The potential for creativity is infinite. Subject/Theme: Every song is a different story, echoing a prevalent theme. When I complete an album, the individual songs combine to present a single theme.
