Naomi Palomo is a Chicana multidisciplinary artist who grew up on the Westside of San Antonio. She grew up in a very Tex-Mex working class family, filled with cultura, even though it wasn’t always easy to make ends meet. At a young age, Palomo began her lifelong love of art, theatre, and crafting. For the past six years, she has been a dedicated professional artist, focusing on acrylic portraits, mixed media painting, and community art. Palomo has created interactive workshops where Westside community members of all ages are able to express themselves through painting. She has exhibited her work at San Anto Cultural Arts, Blue Star Contemporary, Nomas Arte Studios, and has assisted in several murals throughout San Antonio.

Since I was young, painting has always been my escape. What I see in my reality, I paint through shapes, lines, and contour. Painting—creating art—kept me focused and out of trouble. My artwork is a part of me, and I strive to involve my community in my work. I am inspired by my cultura, the world around me, and my roots. Painting, creating, and involving my community in art has been healing for me, a way for me to reinvent myself. By providing my community a space to paint and be creative, we are able to preserve our stories through art.
