The International Peace Market/Mercado de Paz is now in its 34th year, and since the beginning, has combined the arts with social consciousness, international and cultural exchange and economic empowerment. The Mercado provides an alternative to Black Friday where goods are mass produced and where individuals fight traffic, long lines and shop within a stressful environment. The Peace Market instead, offers attendees the opportunity to shop leisurely, visit and exchange directly with the creators of the gifts they will be purchasing and run into family and friends who are also interested in supporting artisans with a social justice sensibility.
The market will also offer live music from local performers on Friday and Saturday from 10am to 6 pm, and affordable and delicious food options all 3 days. Esperanza will be holding an hourly raffle for the beautiful goods donated by the artists.
We are excited to announce that this year nearly 70 artists and artesans will offer their wares. Some of those are brand new to the Mercado de Paz, such as: Cinnamon Girl Soaps, Las Manos Mágicas, The Whistling Thorn Boutique, Rose 2 Feathers Creations, Marisol de la Muerte, Amigas Alicia and Lorraine, and MAZED.
In addition, some new products from first time Peace Market international vendors include Silver Mazahua Jewelry, Árboles de Vida, and large metal works.
