Los Maestros Panel Discussion

Join us for a panel discussion with featured artists José Esquivel, Rudy Treviño, and Maggie Almazán, wife of the late artist Jesse Almazán. They will be joined in the discussion by artist Kathy Vargas and Dr. Anne Marie Leimer, who wrote the catalogue essay for the Los Maestros: Early Explorers of Chicano Identity.
The exhibit focuses on three of the founders of San Antonio’s Chicano arts movement of the 1960s and 1970s, Jesse Almazán, José Esquivel and Rudy Treviño, and highlights their unique contributions and histories as individual artists. The exhibit is curated by San Antonio arts organization Centro Cultural Aztlan. The 40-page exhibition catalogue includes an essay by Dr. Anne Marie Leimer.
