“The Corrido” obtained its definitive shape during the Mexican Revolution; this traditional musical narrative continued to evolve to embrace different people, places, times, and stories. “The Corrido” obtained its definitive shape during the Mexican Revolution; this traditional musical narrative continued to evolve to embrace different people, places, times, and stories. Corridos told tales of revolutionary figures and their exploits and charted the course of daily life in a country inflamed by conflict.
Azul Barrientos will be performing some of the most traditional corridos of Mexico and she says: “we learn how a corrido is still a strong tool to listen to the stories that have been passed down to us that maybe we didn’t hear, or we didn’t read in the history books.”
Musician Aaron Salinas will be accompanying Azul.
