Tame the Submission Process with Chibbi Orduña

This workshop will provide a 360° view of the publication process, from understanding your own writing to finding places to submit your work. Writers will gain familiarity with the ins and outs of the literary journal world and chapbook/manuscript contests while learning practical ways to submit work and track submissions. Participants will walk away feeling confident they can manage the beast that is the submission process.

Students will leave this workshop with the following tools:

ideas for organizing and tracking submissions
an understanding of the submissions process
best practices on when/where/how to effectively submit
resources for publication opportunities

About the instructor: M.R. “Chibbi” Orduña is a Mexican-born, Texas-raised queer poet and spoken word artist. He is the editor-in-chief of Write About Now Publishing and The Mixtape Literary Journal, and director and co-host of the Words and Shit video podcast. He has self-published two books, was a finalist for the 2021 Wax Nine Chapbook Competition, and was the co-editor of the anthology Contra: Texas Poets Speak Out (Flowersong Press, 2020). His work has appeared or is forthcoming in The Texas Review, Wax Wing, Los Angeles Poet Society, Allium, Cosmonaut Avenue, The Acentos Review, The Latino Book Review Magazine, Buzzfeed, We are Mitu, Button Poetry, Write About Now, and elsewhere.
