URBAN-15 announces the 2023 "Gregg Barrios Precious Words Prize” for Poetry Performance in the 2023 MEGA CORAZON Poetry Marathon

Vocab Sanderson was chosen on-line by the thousands of local and international MEGA CORAZON viewers from over 30 countries beyond the U.S for her performance with cellist Luke Bonecutter.
During April, The URBAN-15 Group honored National Poetry Month with its fan favorite, 9th annual poetry phenomena – Mega Corazón. Seventeen of the most prestigious local poets from around San Antonio partook in MEGA CORAZON, which ran throughout April 30th 24 hours daily.
For this third year URBAN-15, again, is blessed by playwright and Chicano activist, Gregg Barrios who gifted an amazing cash prize award that would go to the poet chosen by our on-line audience from across the world. Since this became a part of MEGA CORAZON, Gregg Barrios has passed and it is now more important that the gifted “Precious Words Prize” remain a part of San Antonio’s Creative community. This “Precious Words Prize” will remain an annual prize of $500 dollars. Congratulations to all 17 poets for sharing their gift with the world and to everyone who voted.
