“Sound Scout” by San Antonio artist Justin Boyd is a rotating series of sound installations at Hemisfair Park. The artist recorded ambient sounds such as children’s laughter, birds, cars, and other noise found around Hemisfair and manipulated them to create new abstracted sounds. The sounds come from mounted speakers along the park’s historic acequia. The artwork is a contemplative’sound trail” that allows for the progression of discovery through the act of listening. “Sound Scout”is part of the series “Play” located in Yanaguana Garden at Hemisfair Park. “Urban Porch” by New Orleans based artist Andrea Caillouet evokes the character and heritage of the San Antonio Westside Neighborhood by creating visual markers along its cultural corridors. The artwork references traditional colors and patterns from Mexican textiles. The artist’s intent for the project was to shift user’s experience away from waiting for a future event or arrival of the bus, toward enjoying the present moment by swaying on a glider.
